Mahima dolls up for ramp debut

Mumbai, Oct 3 : From being the simple, girl-next-door to now being a daring, girl-on-the-ramp, Mahima Makwana's character Rachna in Zee TV's Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke, has had a sea change.

In the upcoming track, the viewers will see Rachna landing up in a tight spot.

She enrolls as a designer in a fashion designing competition where the model who was supposed to showcase her designs ditches her at the last minute.

Feeling totally down and dejected, Rachna decides to quit the competition but her father Dayal (Shakti Singh) becomes her savior and boosts his daughter's morale to face the situation.

He encourages her to walk the ramp wearing clothes that she has designed herself.

Designing Rachna's Awadhi-Indian look, Niharika Bajpai - the stylist said, "She is a simple girl who belongs to the city of Benaras and is known to be a behenji. It was tough to make this behenji character come out as an elegant girl on the ramp and get her fans to love her as much as they do.

"Hence we gave her this very Indian ethnic look with open hair and bindi and a nath (nose ring). The look just added to her personality and went perfectly well with her character making her look very Indian."

Talking about her look, Mahima said, "I was over the moon to finally get a chance to glam up on the show. My character does not let me experiment much with my look, but this was an opportunity to look different and wear an ethnic yet modern look.

"My co-stars complimented me saying I looked like Rekha in Umrao Jaan, with my hair falling in-front and the nath."

While Mahima was more than happy to step out of her everyday look, her onscreen character - Rachna received all the appreciation from the judges and in fact, went on to receive a Special Talent award, though she did not win the competition.
