'Iconic' Italian cookbook author Marcella Hazan dies at 89

New York, Sept 30 : Cookbook author Marcella Hazan, who taught generations of Americans how to create simple, fresh and tasty Italian food, died on Sunday at her home in Longboat Key, Florida. She was 89.


The culinary icon wrote six cookbooks in Italian that were translated into English by her husband, Victor, the New York Daily News reported.

Her recipes were the essence of simplicity and she was famed for her tomato sauce recipe that contained only tomatoes, onion, butter and salt.
