DA case: SC gives relief to Jayalalithaa

New Delhi, Sept 30 : The Supreme Court on Monday dsimissed an order to replace the prosecutor in a disproportionate assets case involving Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and her close aide Sasikala Natarajan.


The apex court directed the Karnataka government to cancel the removal order of Special Public Prosecutor Bhavani Singh.

The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) supremo had alleged Singh was being removed at the instructions of the Congress government in Karnataka and her political rivals in Tamil Nadu, at a time when the 18-year-old case was nearing conclusion.

The case of disproportionate wealth allegedly accumulated by Jayalalithaa dates back from 1991 to 1996 when she was the chief minister.
