Thick black smoke was seen rising from the complex where the carnage carried out by terrorists from Somalia-based militant group Al Shabab has claimed more than 60 lives so far.
The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) said three terrorists have been killed.
"KDF has dominated all floors of Westgate Mall building. Troops are now concentrating on clearing the building. We can confirm that 3 terrorists have been killed so far, a few others have suffered injuries," the KDF tweeted.
"Chances of any terrorists sneaking and escaping are very slim. KDF troops have sealed all possible escape routes," it said.
"In the last 24hours, 10 more bodies have been retrieved from the building. Over 200 civilians have been rescued with 65 receiving treatment in various hospitals. Unfortunately 62 have been confirmed dead," the KDF posted on its Twitter page.
The Kenya Police on Monday said they have arrested 10 people for questioning in connection with the attack in the shopping mall.
"The fire at #Westgate has been contained by firefighters. Multi-Agencies have gunned down two and several others injured, more than 10 individuals arrested for questioning in relation to the Attack," the Kenya Police posted on its official Facebook page.
Heavily-armed gunmen stormed into the Westgate shopping mall and threw grenades and opened fire on Saturday.
Somalia-based militant group Al Shabab, that opposes Kenya's participation in a peacekeeping mission in neighbouring Somalia, has claimed responsibility for the attack.
