Panchkula to host PGTI Players Championship

Panchkula, Sept 23 : The Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) has announced that the PGTI Players Championship presented by Panchkula Golf Club will be held from Sept 24 to Sept 27.

The tournament offers a prize purse of Rs. 30 lakh.

The PGTI Players Championship will feature top Indian professionals such as Mukesh Kumar (current Rolex Rankings leader), Shamim Khan (reigning Rolex Rankings champion), Chiragh Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Rashid Khan, Om Prakash Chouhan, Shankar Das, Manav Jaini, Vinod Kumar and Gaurav Ghei to name a few.

Leading the local challenge will be Chandigarh-based professionals Sujjan Singh, Harendra Gupta, Abhijit Singh Chadha, Harmeet Kahlon and Ranjit Singh as well as Panchkula's
Angad Cheema among others.

Kunal Bhasin (Australia) and Md Zamal Hossain Mollah (Bangladesh) are the top professionals from overseas who will be playing the event.

An exhilarating week of golf lies in prospect as some of India's best professionals vie for top honours and look to make an impact on the Rolex Rankings. Brig. I. S. Punia (Retd.), General Manager, Panchkula Golf Club, said, "We thank PGTI for staging the PGTI Players Championship at the Panchkula Golf Club. The renovation on the course is in the final stages with completion of work expected by February-March 2014. The newly-renovated course will present a tough challenge to the professionals."

The Panchkula Golf Club is situated on the Ambala-Panchkula-Kalka-Shimla Highway and spread over an area of 135 acres.

It is one of the premier championship courses in north India.
