NBA great Grant felicitates Delhi junior team

New Delhi, Sep 23 : NBA legend Horace Grant felicitated the Delhi boys team for winning the U-18 National Championship in Cuttack (Sep 1-8) and the U-16 National Championship in Kolkata (April 30 to May 7).

In the U-18 category, the Delhi boys upset favourites Punjab 89-82 in the final while the U-16 team upset Rajasthan 79-77 in the national championships.

Grant is here in India to attend the NBA Jam session, the latest one held at Ramjas College here from Sep 20-22.

NBA Jam is a travelling interactive basketball festival, combining on-court competition with concerts by local musicians. The event is being conducted in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai. The last stop will be Mumbai which will also host the national finals of the tournament.

NBA greats Grant, Ron Harper and Peja Stojakovic, who collectively have won 10 NBA Championships, will participate in the NBA Jam. All three will attend the finals in Mumbai.

Grant won three consecutive NBA titles with the Chicago Bulls in 1991-93 and later won his fourth title with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2000-01. Known for his defence and rebounding, Grant was named to the All-Defensive Second Team four times.
