"The Rajasthan government on Saturday recommended a CBI probe against former Minister of state for Dairy and Khadi Babulal Nagar who has been accused of raping and assaulting a woman," CNN-IBN reported.
"The state government has recommended a CBI probe against the minister. The recommendation will be forwarded to the department of personnel and training in Delhi which will issue a notification," a senior home department official was quoted as saying by the news channel.
Nagar, who has been booked for allegedly raping a woman, on Thursday resigned from the state cabinet.
Nagar on Wednesday claimed innocence.
"The allegations are baseless and false. That woman is known here for doing this with every other man," said Nagar.
"Earlier also, that woman had taken money from prominent people and asked for jobs by blackmailing them," he said.
The woman alleged that Nagar called her to his house on Sept 11 and then beat her up before raping her.
The minister has been booked under sections 376 (rape) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
On Sept 13, the woman recorded her statement before metropolitan magistrate Pradeep Modi.
"On the magistrate's directions, the Sodala Police Station booked the minister on Tuesday, " Hindustan Times reported.
The Crime Branch of the Crime Investigation Department (CB-CID) is expected to probe the case.
