Consumer electronics and durable brand LG announced the national rollout of the amateur cooking competition, Mallika-E-Kitchen Cooking Contest 2013 here on Friday.


The competition which started in 2009 provides an opportunity for the women of the country to showcase their cooking talent and win the title of 'India's Mallika-E-Kitchen Cooking Queen'.

The contest, an initiative from LG, aims to promote healthy living and thereby, educate and inform Indian house makers about the importance of healthy cooking and eating.

The competition is open to all women from the age group of 20 years and above.

For participation, any Indian woman who buys a LG microwave oven during the period starting from Sept 18 till Nov 3 is eligible to enter the LG Mallika-E-Kitchen Cooking Contest by simply filling a registration form.

The winning prize includes 100 percent cash back for the first round of winners.

Rajeev Jain, Sales Head, Home Appliances, LG India, said, "Mallika-E-Kitchen is an innovative format from LG Electronics India. The aim is twofold, educate the Indian consumers about the benefit of Microwave cooking and to provide them the opportunity to showcase their culinary skills both in India and Internationally."

Jain said, "The campaign has received participation of more than 15,000 women in its strong running for four consecutive years and we are confident of receiving the same kind of participation from our cooking talents this year too."

He said, "This year the local round winner will get 100 percent cash back for microwave oven bought (taxes as per govt norms) and the final round winner will represent India at Global LG Home Chef Championship to be held at an international location."

"The winner of the international finale will receive USD 10,000 worth of gift vouchers and the title of 'Grand Master Home Chef' while runners-up will receive USD 5,000 in gift vouchers and 'Master Home Chef' certificates," he added.
