Child piano prodigy becomes youngest person to receive degree-equivalent diploma

London, Sept. 19 : Piano star Curtis Elton has become the youngest person in the world to receive a degree-equivalent diploma at the age of 9.

The school boy, who developed his talent - thanks to his concert-pianist mum Hayley Elton - had gained an ATCL diploma, which is comparable to a first-year degree, for his piano playing skills, the Mirror reported.

Hayley herself was the youngest person to gain entrance to the Guildhall School of Music when she was just eight.

The mum and son duo will soon release a CD, which will feature fresh interpretations of much-loved classical pieces.
