The survey, conducted by Gartner, revealed that entertainment made up 50 percent of tablet activity, followed by communication at 26percent.
Principal research analyst at Gartner, Meike Escherich said that people spend far more time on entertainment and people often use several devices at once, News24 reports.
Escherich said that tablet users continue to use tablets most in the evening, suggesting the use as companion to television viewing and other living-room activities.
According to the report, the survey was conducted in the US, UK and Australia and revealed that Samsung and Apple tablet owners spend more time in entertainment activity on the devices.
Escherich further said that tablet vendors can no longer focus exclusively on early adopters and now they must review their portfolios to ensure they have products also capable of attracting later adopters, the report added.
