Animals cry too!

Washington, Sept. 18 : Animal behaviour experts have suggested that some animals, similar to human babies, are also able to cry.

Animal behaviorist Marc Bekoff told Discovery News that some mammals weep because of loss of contact comfort.

He said that for elephant calves and human infants, crying could be more out of stress than sorrow, asserting that stress is an emotion.

He said that scientific studies have already proven that chicken, mice and rats display empathy.

Though dogs are one of the most social animals, scientists and owners are yet to report about a dog crying its eyes out.
