The Gujarat unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday will be launching a minority drive coinciding with the party's prime ministerial candidate and state chief minister Narendra Modi's 63rd birthday.

The Bharatiya Janata Minority Morcha will be registering about 1 lakh people belonging to the minority communities into the BJP during the nine-day drive from across all the districts.

"We will enroll 1 lakh people from the minority communities through each of our cells starting," said state BJP spokesperson IK Jadeja.

Meanwhile, Modi, like every year, visited his mother Hira Ba in Gandhinagar to seek her blessings.

"I came to seek my mother's blessings. There is no bigger privilege for me than that," Modi told reporters after his visit.

The BJP's prime ministerial candidate also accepted flowers from people gathered outside his mother's house, and thanked everyone for their blessings.

"People have always supported me. I have full faith that people's blessings won't go waste. Their blessings will give me strength to go on with my work," he said.
