Man held over minor girl's rape in Kolkata

Kolkata, Sep 16 : A 22-year-old man was arrested in Kolkata Monday after a minor girl lodged a complaint saying he had raped her, police said.


Police said the six-year-old girl said in her complaint that she was forcibly taken by her neighbour to his house in Topsia area where he raped her Sunday night.

When the girl informed her parents, the accused was thrashed by the residents and handed over to police. The girl was hospitalised with serious injuries.

Trinamool Congress leader and West Bengal Fire Services Minister Javed Ahmed Khan visited the girl at the hospital and assured that the offender will be punished.

"The offender has been arrested and we assure that the administration will ensure that the offender is given strict punishment," Khan said.
