Idukki arch dam to open for tourists

Thodupuzha, September 10: The Idukki dam, built on the Periyar River in the ravine between the Kuravan and Kurathi Hills, will be opened for visitors from saturday for about a month.

The hydel tourism department has made arrangements for the public to visit the dam from September 14 to October 20.

Boating facility will be available for visitors on the speedboats of KSEB.

Idukki Dam is one of the highest ten arch dams in the world.

The dam with a height of 550 feet and a width of 650 feet is located close to the Cheruthoni barrage.
