According to The Scotsman, the Olympic bronze medallist will promote the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, which begins in July 2014, along with Hoy, Ennis-Hill and Adlington.
Announcing the news on his Twitter account, Daley, who represented Great Britain at the Beijing Olympics aged just 14, said that he is looking forward to seeing Glasgow and be a part of the countdown to the Commonwealth Games, adding that he wants everyone to back the Games and all the athletes.
Daley, who won two Commonwealth gold medals in the synchronised and individual diving competitions at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, also said that he is totally focused on training and holding on to his title as he has great memories of winning gold in Delhi.
The report mentioned that the 19-year-old diver won gold at the diving World Series event in the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh earlier this year, and he said that he wants to experience the enthusiasm of Scottish crowds again in 2014 like when he won gold in April in the same pool.
Stating that Daley is the perfect ambassador to inspire young people about sport, Glasgow 2014 chief executive David Grevemberg said that they are happy to welcome him as an official ambassador for the Games and are looking forward to introducing him to Glasgow to deliver the friendliest of 'family-friendly' Games.
