Washington, Sept 6 : Hollywood actor Matt Bomer has reportedly thanked his fans for nominating him for the male lead role in the movie version of 'Fifty Shades of Grey', due out next summer, via an online petition.

Fans had started an online petition on Change.org, which gained more than 50,000 signatures imploring producers to replace Charlie Hunnam with the 35-year old 'White Collar' star and Dakota Johnson to be replaced by Alexis Bledel as the female lead, CBS News reported.
