PTI chairman Imran Khan lately criticised the federal government for its inability to formulate an anti-terrorism policy at the national level, but has simultaneously failed to implement an already approved counter-terrorism policy in its province, Dawn reports.
The Awami National Party (ANP) government had formulated a strategy called 'Checkmating terrorism, a counter-terrorism strategy (CTS)'during the last year of its term in office in May 2012 and the provincial cabinet had approved it.
The strategy defined possible ways for the provincial government departments to deal with terrorism while sticking to their respective roles.
According to the report, the strategy could have been implemented for peace in the province without making any special budgetary allocations for it.
Some experts, meanwhile, said that the government was bound to implement the anti-terrorism policy approved by the last provincial government, until it rejects or amends it.
