Asaram made CDs to blackmail women?

Jodhpur, Sept 6 : Self-styled godman Asaram Bapu, who is in jail in connection with a minor's sexual assault case, reportedly used to make CDs featuring him and his female devotees at his ashram in order to blackmail them, said reports on Friday.

According to reports, the Rajasthan Police have seized the mobile phone of Asaram's caretaker Shiva which contains a controversial video clip featuring the spiritual guru and a girl.

Some CDs were also recovered from Shiva's possession that contained many videos of Asaram with his several female followers inside his meditation hut at his ashram.

Pertinently, Shiva is in police custody.

A Jodhpur court on Wednesday rejected Asaram's bail plea in the sexual assault case.

The court ruled that Asaram will remain in custody till Sept 15.

Asaram's lawyer had said he is unwell.

However, the prosecution lawyer argued that if granted bail, Asaram being an influential man can influence the case and witnesses.

The prosecution also told the court that the Jodhpur DCP got a fax where his supporters have threatened officers handling the case.

Asaram was sent to jail on Monday after the court remanded him to a 14-day judicial custody.

Earlier, Asaram passed potency test, which established that he is medically fit and sexually potent.

The 15-year-old girl, who was staying at Asaram's hostel in Rajasthan's Jodhpur, has filed a First Information Report (FIR) at Kamla market police station in Delhi alleging she was sexually assaulted by the godman.
