Peckish cockerel to make owner wait for 8 years to retrieve diamond earring

London, September 4 : A woman had her precious diamond earring accidentally swallowed by her pet Peckish cockerel, which was perched on her shoulder, and will now have to wait until the death of the bird, to retrieve her jewellery item which is worth 300 pounds.

Claire Lennon had her pet Sarah sitting on her shoulder when he suddenly pecked at her ear, which was gifted to her by her partner Adam, and swallowed her earring, mistaking it for a snack, the Mirror reported.

According to vets, the earring is trapped inside the stomach of the six-month-old Peckish cockerel, which can be retrieved only after its death as it seems to be firmly stuck in the bird's gizzard.

As the bird species is known to live to a ripe old age, Lennon may have to wait for another eight years before she gets her diamond-studded platinum white-gold earring back.
