Court reserves order on Asaram bail

Jodhpur, Sept 4 : A Jodhpur court on Wednesday reserved its order on the bail plea of self-styled godman Asaram Bapu, who is in jail in a minor's sexual assault case.

The court said it will pronounce its order after 2 pm.

The prosecution lawyer argued that if granted bail, Asaram bieng an influential man can influence the case and witnesses.

The hearing was scheduled to take place on Tuesday, but District and Sessions Judge (Rural) of Jodhpur Manoj Vyas deferred the hearing till Wednesday so that the prosecution can argue on the issue.

Asaram was sent to jail on Monday after the court remanded him to a 14-day judicial custody.

Earlier, Asaram passed potency test, which established that he is medically fit and sexually potent.

The 15-year-old girl, who was staying at Asaram's hostel in Rajasthan's Jodhpur, has filed a First Information Report (FIR) at Kamla market police station in Delhi alleging she was sexually assaulted by the godman.
