Bangalore: Inmate escapes in cop uniform

Bangalore, Sept 2 : A serial rapist lodged at Bangalore Central Jail escaped from the prison hospital cell with the help of a police uniform, said reports on Monday.


According to jail authorities, 38-year-old truck driver Jaishankar, who was recently sentenced to 10 years in prison in connection with a rape and murder case, escaped from the jail by scaling a 30 feet high wall early Sunday.

According to reports, he scaled the high wall of the prison with the help of a bamboo pole and a bed-sheet and fled in a police uniform.

Jaishankar, a resident of Tamil Nadu's Salem city, is an accused in over 24 rape cases committed in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
