Continuing its commitment for education program in the Philippines, the Japanese company has been involved in the Ayala Foundation's Text2Teach project since last year.
Toshiba plans to reach out donating 853 brand new 32" LED TVs to public elementary schools nationwide in three consecutive years. The company has already donated 303 brand new 32-inch TV units, following another donation of 300 TV units this year.
It plans 250 more units by next year for the last tranche.
"Toshiba believes that education is very important in nurturing the next generation and future leaders in Philippines, and I am glad that our TV can support this", said Fumio Otani, corporate representative of Asia, Toshiba Corporation.
The Text2Teach project provides high-quality, ICT package teaching materials on English, Math and Science into selected elementary school classroom.
Studies have already shown that Text2Teach is an effective teaching tool that has made teaching and learning more interesting and effective, with record in higher grades and schools in the program have reported lower absenteeism.
"Founded in 1875, Toshiba's philosophy roots in the concept of "Committed to people, Committed to Future" - and out various products and services are determined to contribute to the society," added Fumio Otani.
