ICSI hosts seminar on Companies Bill 2012

Kolkata, Aug 21 : The Institute of Company Secretaries of India-Eastern India Regional Council (ICSI-EIRC) recently organised a full-day seminar on "Companies Bill 2012" in Kolkata.

The chief guest at the inaugural session of the seminar was Navrang Saini, Regional Director (East), Ministry of Corporate Affairs.

The other company secretaries present at the occasion were Deepak Kr Khaitan, Chairman,ICSI EIRC, Arun Khandelia, Vice Chairman, ICSI EIRC and Ashok Pareek,Counil Member, ICSI.

In the inaugural session, Deepak Kr Khaitan in his address introduced the theme of the seminar and said that the Companies Bill promises opportunities for professionals and it's for the professionals to update themselves for better understanding of the schedules.

Ashok Pareek said that the Companies Bill enhances accountability of auditors, and protects minority shareholders.

He said the Bill puts company secretaries in the forefront.

Navrang Saini said that new Bill passed by both houses of the parliament is now awaiting presidential assent, following which it would be known as Companies Act 2013.
