By-polls underway in Karnataka

Bangalore, Aug 21 : By-polls at Mandya and Bangalore Rural constituencies in Karnataka are currently underway since Wednesday morning.


The by-polls are crucial for the Congress as this is the first election in Karnataka after its candidate Siddaramaiah took over as the Chief Minister.

Congress is facing one of its strongest rivals in the by-polls - Janata Dal (Secular) [JDS].

"People have taken a decision to vote against the Congress, so we're going to win," JDS general secretary T Prabhakar told CNN-IBN.
