Badie was arrested over allegations of incitement to violence and murder.
More then 100 members of the Muslim Brotherhood were taken into custody on Tuesday, reports said.
"Meanwhile Egypt's former Vice President Mohamed ElBaradei is to face trial on charges of breaching national trust," BBC reported.
Egypt has been witnessing violent protests since the Egyptian Army on July 3 ousted the country's first democratically elected president Mohamed Morsi just after one year in office.
He was taken into military custody the same night.
The head of country's Supreme Constitutional Court, Adly Mansour, was sworn in as interim president on July 4.
Demonstrators across the nation accused Morsi of failing to tackle the economic and security problem since being elected a year ago.
