Carberry in England T20 squad

London, Aug 19 : England selectors on Monday announced a 13-man squad for the two match NatWest International T20 series against Australia commencing on Aug 29 at the Ageas Bowl.

Hampshire batsman Michael Carberry has been named in the squad.

"Michael Carberry is the only member of the squad yet to play a T20 for England. The 32 year old Hampshire batsman averaged 56 in this season's Friends Life t20 competition including an unbeaten century against Lancashire in the quarter finals. Two players involved in the current Ashes series have been included in the squad, captain Stuart Broad and pace bowler Steven Finn," the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) website said.

National selector, Geoff Miller, said: "With only eight international T20 matches until the ICC World T20 next April this NatWest series is an important chance for players to show they are capable of performing well at this level. The two matches will also allow Ashley Giles and Stuart Broad an opportunity to look at a number of different options.

"This squad combines players with plenty of international experience with players who have impressed at domestic level and who deserve an opportunity to test themselves in an international environment against what will no doubt be a strong Australian side," Miller said.
