In a terse statement Friday, the ministry accused the United States of being unwilling to help find a political solution through a dialogue among the Syrians at the upcoming peace conference in Geneva.
"In addition to arming terrorists of the al-Qaida-linked Nusra Front..., the United States is now distorting the fact that Syria has agreed to participate in the Geneva conference unconditionally, " the statement said, in reference to a recent U.S. statement that said Syria lacked seriousness in partaking in the talks.
Syria's remarks followed an earlier statement by Moscow, which slammed the United States for turning the situation upside down about the preparations for the Geneva conference.
On Monday, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov said Moscow did not expect the Geneva talks to be held before October.
The conference, which has been delayed multiple times, is a follow-up to last summer's Geneva meetings, during which a peace roadmap was laid out for Syria but has never been materialized.
