According to News24, Movement for Democratic Change spokesperson Douglas Mwonzora disclosed that the Prime Minister had withdrawn his election petition and the main reason was that the party felt the trial was going to be a mockery of justice.
Tsvangirai has rejected the 31 July vote, which handed him 34 percent of the ballot and declared his rival Mugabe the winner with 61 percent, the report said.
The MDC said election organisers were blocking key documents needed in the case, the report added.
The withdrawal paves the way for veteran leader Mugabe to be inaugurated for another five-year term, extending his 33 year rule, the report further said.
