National 9 Ball: Neeta shines at home

Kolkata, August 17 : Continuing the tradition of sporting excellence from the first cue sports family of the country, Neeta Kothari edged out title contender and former national champion, Chitra M. from Karnataka in a close finish in the Big Bazaar National 9 Ball (Women) Championship at the Spring Club here on Saturday.


Neeta has always been determined and gritty fighter but this time she also showed nerves of steel to overcome her more fancied opponent. Notwithstanding how much luck is there in 9Ball Pool game, Neeta seized her chances not bothering about whatever went against her.

Alok Kumar, one of the most versatile and gritty fighter on the circuit were shown the door by junior national snooker champion Malkeet Singh of Railways.

But the survivor of the day was Kamal Chawla who came back from desperate situation to live for another day.

Down 0-5 against local boy Shahbaaz, he clawed his way back to win 9-7.

Carrying on his luck in the next match after being 0-4 down against another local boy Shoaib Khan, he again pulled out some aces to prevail 9-6.
