Eight Maoists surrendered in Odisha Wednesday, police said.

All of them belonged to three villages in Chitrakonda area, about 750 km from Bhubaneswar, Superintendent of Police Akhileswar Singh told IANS.

Although they were not involved in any major crime, they were members of the outlawed Communist Party of India-Maoist.

They used to hold village level meetings and provide logistic support to the rebels, he said.
