One killed in Ghaziabad lift collapse

Ghaziabad, March 22 : A worker was killed and another was injured when a lift at a construction site in Ghaziabad fell down Friday, police said.

The accident occurred in Shikhar Enclave in Indirapuram.

Police said the cord snapped of the lift, which was used to carry construction material and labourers to the 10th floor of the new complex, causing the fall of the lift.

Two workers were cleaning the shaft of the lift on the ground floor when it came crashing down from the ninth floor.

Of the two workers, one died on the spot while the other was critically injured. He was rushed to a hospital.

Police said a complaint has not been lodged yet and no action has been initiated against the contractor.
