BWF: PV Sindhu cruises to semis

Guangzhou, Aug 9 : Indian shuttler PV Sindhu defeated Wang Shixian of China in the women's singles quarterfinals to reach the semi-finals of the BWF World Championships here on Friday.

She assured at least a bronze medal with this victory.

Sindhu defeated her opponent by 21-18, 21-17 in the clash.

Disappointing Indian fans, Indian shuttlers Saina Nehwal and Parupalli Kashyap crashed out of the BWF World Championships after they lost their respective quarter-finals matches here on Friday.

Indian badminton icon Saina was defeated by South Yeon Ju Bae in the women's singles quarter-finals clash.

Bae defeated Saina by 21-23, 9-21 margin.

In the men's singles, Kashyap's dream run ended as Du Pengyu of China defeated him by 16-21 22-20 21-15 in the quarter-finals clash.
