Punjab property dealer kills family, self

Chandigarh, Aug 7 : A well-to-do property dealer in Punjab's Kapurthala town shot dead three members of his family before committing suicide, police said Wednesday.

Property dealer, Avtar Singh, 43, ended his life early Wednesday in his house after killing his wife Roopinder (40), son Gaurav (13) and daughter Amanat (8).

The incident took place around 6 a.m. Wednesday. The property dealer used his licenced weapon to kill his family and himself.

Kapurthala district police chief Inder Bir Singh said that the reasons behind the incident were being investigated.

Police sources said that the property dealer was upset for the past few months owing to the illness of his son.
