Ford India on Tuesday said the Ford Figo has crossed the 300,000 sales mark in the third year of its market launch.


Ford India celebrated the milestone with plans to open five new dealerships in tier III Indian cities including Solan, Sri Ganganagar, Gaya, Anand and Sikar. Dealership facilities are also coming up in Faridabad and Kochi.

"The Figo continues to be a game-changer for Ford in India and has helped position Ford as a significant player. We debuted in the small car segment with the Figo and continue to offer a compelling choice for customers who want a vehicle that offers a quality, safe, fuel efficient and substantial value package," said Joginder Singh, president and managing director, Ford India.

"Today, as we celebrate the 300,000 sales milestone, I thank our customers in India and international markets for making the Figo their product of choice and placing their confidence in the Ford brand," Singh said.

The car's popularity is strengthened by the fact that 65 percent of its owners in India are first-time car buyers.

Adding to the acclaim, it has been recently rated as India's most dependable premium compact vehicle in the latest results of the prestigious 2013 J.D. Power Asia Pacific India Vehicle Dependability Study.

Figo has won after being listed in the prestigious Limca Book of Records 2012 as the Most Awarded Car-ever in India in its debut year.

Celebrating this milestone, Ford India plans several new dealer openings across tier II and III markets to ensure wider reach and enhance the ownership experience.

The first new dealer opening is planned in Solan on Aug 8, followed by openings in Sri Ganganagar, Gaya, Anand and Sikar in the course of the month.

"The Ford Figo has been one of the pillars of the Ford brand in India. As we celebrate this wonderful moment with our customers, we are very excited to grow our dealer footprint in the hinterlands and open several new dealerships across the country. These additions to our dealer footprint are part of our aggressive expansion plans of reaching closer to customers in India," Singh said.
