Professor Malabika Sarkar, Vice Chancellor of Presidency University, unveiled the dictionary and expressed her views on the significance of this dictionary.
On the occasion, Ranjan Kaul, Managing Director, Oxford University Press India said, "The English-English-Bengali Dictionary fills a serious gap in resource materials for teaching and learning of English. This dictionary is far more comprehensive and specially designed to serve as a comprehensive aid to English language learners.

Adding to this, Dr Moitreyee Mitra, co-editor, English-English-Bengali Dictionary said, "This English-English-Bengali dictionary is unique since the collected words in this dictionary are close to the heart of common people. We had to be decisive about its characteristics and how it can enrich the user's vocabulary, and we sincerely hope that learners of English will find this dictionary informative and valuable."
The Oxford English-English-Bengali Dictionary is specially compiled for learners of English, teachers, translators and general readers.
"This dictionary is comprehensive and authoritative with an outstanding coverage of world English including 'Indian English'. It also includes essential scientific and technical vocabulary, over 200 illustrations, and detailed notes on grammar," OUP said in a statement.
The appendix carries a list of suffixes and prefixes also translated in Bengali for learners of English. The dictionary is priced Rs. 585.
