Rahman announces Rahmanishq concert
Oscar-winning Indian musician A R Rahman is all set to visit four different cities in India and Sydney for his new musical tour - Rahmanishq.
Rahman on Monday made the official announcement via video conference from Mumbai, where the actual conference was held while connecting with Kolkata and Ahmedabad.
His close comrades, Neeti Mohan, Harshdeep Kaur and Vijay Prakash were present here in Kolkata to interact with the media.
Rahman said, "My first concert was in US where I started the concert with Hindi and Tamil songs. People out there were not comfortable with the first few songs, but then the crowd got enthusiastic and charged up. We all have worked hard for this concert also. We have recreated many songs which we will perform."
Commenting on the difference between the East and the West, he said that he finds no difference between the two halves of the world.
When asked about the Classical Western musical academy that he is going to open, he said, "In our country, we still don't have a proper orchestra. So it requires a bit of western training which is to excel in harmony. To develop that, we are planning to form this academy. Many other types of songs like Sufi will also be taught."
As part of this tour, the music legend will be travelling to Sydney to put up a performance at the All Phone Arena on the August 24.
The legendary icon will embark on a month long expedition starting with Kolkata (Saltlake Stadium) in October 1, followed by Vishakapattanam (Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini Cricket Stadium) on October 12.
The third one will be held in Jaipur (Bhawani Niketan Education Trust) on October 20.
The last one will be held in Ahmedabad (Sardar Patel Stadium) on October 27.
"It feels really nice to be here. The most special part of Rahman Sahab's was, there was Usha Uthub singing there. Rahman sir's music is always special for all of us. We want to listen to his music and we are always inspired. We want to present each song larger than life. We all are really excited for the concert" said singer Neeti Mohan.
"Jiya re is very special for me, because Rahman sir, Gulzar ji and Yash Chopra ji were present in the studio and listening to my song" she added.

The Kolkata concert will be held on October 1 and tickets for India will go on live from August 15.
