Kolkata, July 28 : A school girl was shot dead in broad daylight Sunday by two bike-riding assailants in West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district. One person has been arrested in this connection, police said.

The incident happened in Falakata of Alipurduar subdivision when the girl was returning home. She was taken to a hospital where doctors declared her dead.

"A class 11 girl was Sunday shot dead by two people on a bike. We have arrested one person in this regard," said Additional Superintendent of Police (Alipurduar) Akash Megharia.
