BSE Sensex falls uncertainty, IT concerns

Mumbai, Apr 4 : The BSE Sensex fell 1.55 percent on Thursday as political uncertainty and earnings concerns weighed down sentiment.

The 30-share benchmark index ended 291.94 points lower at 18,509.70 with 24 of its components closing in the red.

The broader 50-share National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty index ended 1.73 percent or 98.15 points lower at 5,574.75 on Thursday.

Shares of IT services exporters tumbled after weak economic data from the United States while banking stocks also fell on worrying outlook.

Meanwhile in the bullion market, gold dropped by Rs 210 to Rs 28,985 per 10 grams while silver went down by Rs 130 to Rs 51,980 per kg.
