Telegraph Cup: Williamson Magor scores 231

Kolkata, July 25 : The day 3 of the Telegraph Cup Golf 2013 in association with Ballantine's saw the biggies taking to the course with the teams in contention all vying to cement their position on Thursday.


Williamson Magor - A, had one of their top guns, Aditya Khaitan playing on the third day who managed a single digit handicap.

He propelled them to the top of the leader board with a score of one under at 71 taking their team total to 231.

Williamson Magor- B followed after a round of 76 by J Dagar, their three day total at 237.

While the distraction on the course was undoubtedly, Manavi Halwasiya of J Thomas and Company-A, who is the youngest lady tea broker around and had high expectations to meet since she was playing for the leading team.

However, she fell short, as she finished with a score of 80 taking the team total to 238.

On the last day, all eyes will be on the ace player Lakshman Singh who will be up against the likes of Gaurav Ghosh of J Thomas and Company-A, so much can be expected.

Top spot of Division 2 has been acquired by S Baruah of Mcleod Russel - I with a score of 84 and team total of 255.

K.Shekhawat of McLeod Russel- B with score of 79 at the second position with team total now of 259.

Third spot was taken by Oil-A after a round of 86 by A Nath, their team total being 266.

Emami Group of Companies was leading at Division 3 after a round of 87 by Jayant Goenka making their team total-245 and second place was taken by McLeod Russel- D after a round of 84 by A J Borgohain, their team total is 260 and third place was taken by ONGC with a score of 79 by S Panging and team total being 262.

Meanwhile in Telegraph Challenge Cup, with a three day total score of 216, DBS Bank was leading after splendid rounds by Mayukh Ray (72) and Deep Banerjee (71).

The second spot was taken up by South India Project after Akash Tantia scored a 72, taking their team total to 217.

Currently, there are three teams sharing third spot i.e. Barclays Wealth, Emar Green and Supertech with a score of 219 each.

Straightest Drive on Hole 5 - J Gohain of Tata Global Beverages

Ballantine's Long Drive on Hole 10 - Mayukh Ray of DBS Bank

Closest to the Pin on Hole 13 - Rohan Shroff of Skill Dye
