PM's panel locks deadlines for infrastructure projects
The Steering Group appointed by the Prime Minister to accelerate infrastructure investment in its first meeting on Thursday finalized deadlines with timelines for the intermediate steps for key infrastructure projects.
The group decided that the progress on the intermediate steps will be monitored on a regular basis.
The deadlines will ensure that Ministries / Departments are clear about not just the overall deadline but also all the intermediate steps that need to be completed so that there are no slippages.
The Principal Secretary to PM, Pulok Chatterji directed all Ministries/ Departments to nominate a Nodal Officer each, of the rank of a Joint Secretary or above, who will report on a weekly basis on the progress of their department's project(s).
The names would be intimated to the PMO by July 26.
In addition, the group also stated that the Mumbai Elevated Rail Corridor Project RFQ reissued will be resolved by M/o Railways within a week.
The group agreed that the M/o Railways will provide exact timelines for completion of the Khurja-Kanpur, Kanpur-Mughalsarai and Mughalsarai-Sonnagar stretches.
On the Ludhiana-Dadri stretch for which funding has yet to be fully tied up, the Steering Group will review the matter in 4 weeks, after the committee on financing projects in Railways completes its work.
While pursuing the three Expressways mentioned by MoRTH (Eastern Peripheral, Delhi-Meerut, Mumbai-Vadodara), MoRTH will also work on the financial model for the Delhi - Jaipur Expressway.
The pre-feasibility will be completed by August 15 and the progress on this will also be monitored for early award.
RFQs, which were invited as per old documents, will be now based on new documents, the group added.
M/o Power will try to award the 13 identified transmission projects as per the agreed timelines.
