Miss and Mrs Kolkata Gujarati staged

Kolkata, July 22 : A beauty pageant titled Miss and Mrs Kolkata Gujarati was organised Sunday at Kala Mandir here as part of the national pageant, Miss and Mrs India Gujarati.


The competition is conceptualised to promote the culture and tradition of Gujarati and to nurture the talent in Gujarati women.

The judges at the show included Abhishek Dutta, Jaya Misra, Indroneel Mukherjee, Dimpy Mahajan, Richa Sharma, and Priti Patel. The winner got a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh. The Winner and Runner Up of the city finale will go to Hyderabad for the grand finale of Miss and Mrs India Gujarati.

Bhavna Hemani, the chief organiser of this competition, said, " The Gujarati women today have ideas, goals, ambitions, and so much to offer to the world but there was a lack of proper platform. Miss and Mrs Kolkata Gujarati is one such dais which gives an opportunity to Gujarati women to enhance their education, learning and sharpen their skills for the world outside. We have designed this event keeping the Gujarati women and girls in mind."

The brain behind this whole pageant is Minal Wakharia from Hyderabad. The other organisers of this event are Mehul Meghani, Priyanka Shah, and Nisha Desai.

The 9 city pageants incorporate Kolkata, Chennai, Surat , Nasik, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Nagpur, Ahmadabad, Mumbai which will ultimately culminate into a grand finale in Hyderabad. The country's most prestigious and credible pageant shortlists 20 Gujarati girls and women who have the classic combination of beauty with brains.

The grooming rounds were conducted by the grooming expert and model Jessica Gomes who imparted the knowledge on stress, time, wardrobe management, saree draping, hair and make-up.
