Chinese scholars hail Sino-Indian ties

New Delhi, April 3 : Sino-Indian relations have become so stable despite "unresolved issues" that they offer a new paradigm for inter-state relationship in today's world, Chinese scholars have said.

The scholars expressed this view at a track II bilateral dialogue held among scholars from India and China at the Institute of Defence Studies and Analysis (IDSA) here.

The Indian team was headed by IDSA chief Arvind Gupta and the Chinese delegation by Yang Mingjie, vice president of the China Institute for Contemporary International Relations.

The participants in the dialogue agreed that the existing geopolitical environment offered excellent opportunities for cooperation for China and India, an IDSA statement said.

The two countries could enhance their cooperation in areas related to global governance, economic development and addressing the issues related to global economic crisis, the scholars felt.

Importance of military-to-military cooperation was also emphasized.

Both sides said that as two rising Asian economies, the two countries needed to take adequate care to address each other's concerns and sustain multi-track dialogue to further strengthen bilateral relationship.

They scholars exchanged views on a range of issues pertaining to regional and global security environment, Sino-Pakistan relations, and boundary and water related issues between India and China.
