Resoln. passed in UNHRC justifies DMK pullout of UPA:Karunanidhi

Chennai, Mar 21 : DMK President M Karunanidhi said his party would not reconsider its decision of pulling out of the Congress-led UPA government as the diluted US resolution against Lanka passed in the UNHRC today was ample proof of the reasons for his party's action.

He told newspersons here this evening that TESO will decide the next course of action on what has to be done in Sri Lanka with regard to saving the Tamils in the island nation.

Going by the current happenings, the DMK had taken the right decision in pulling out of the entral government and the UPA, he observed.

The resolution that was passed today was useless. 'India did not bother about the plight of Lankan Tamils', he charged, answering questions on the issue, after issuing a statement hitting out at the resolution.

The resolution has been watered down to the effect that it has turned out to be useless, he averred.

He said an impression was created in the minds of students and others that something big would result from the US resolution. 'But in the end it was watered down and turned out to be useless', he alleged.

Answering a question he said 'I would not say that the Centre betrayed Tamils. But it did not bother.'
