Fishermen observe novel fast mid sea

Nagapattinam, Mar 21 : A group of about 300 fishermen of Chinnangudi fishermen hamlet in Nagapattinam district of Tamil Nadu staged a novel protest by observed a, one day fast in mid sea, off Chinnangudi shore, demanding that Sri lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse be declared a war criminal.

The fishermen went in 60 boats and anchored them in mid sea, and observed the fast. Their family members observed a fast on the shore.

They also urged the Union Government to protect them from continuous attacks by Lankan naval personnel and retrieve the Katcha Theevu Island, police sources said.
