WB, Centre nod for phase II of Road Sector Project
Chennai, Mar 21 : Tamil Nadu Finance Minister O Panneerselvam today announced that World Bank and the Centre have approved the second phase of the Tamil Nadu Road Sector Project which the state had announced in the previous budget.
Mr Panneerselvam, who made this announcement in his speech presenting the budget for 2013-14, said the project would be the biggest externally aided project implemented by the state so far, at a cost of Rs 8,580 crore. It would cover 1,678 Km.
The project will improve and develop road links where the intensity of traffic was high, he said, adding the work would commence from 2013-14.
