According to the weatherman, the situation is likely to continue till Friday.
The sudden turn in the weather has been attributed to a western depression developing over Pakistan which has led to cloudy skies in the state capital and some rains in other parts of the state.
The regional meteorological office's director J.P. Gupta told IANS that breeze at an average speed of 12 to 18 km per hour had resulted in a considerable drop in day temperatures. The minimum temperature in Lucknow was recorded at 14 degrees Celsius while the maximum hovered around 30 degrees.
Varanasi recorded a minimum temperature of 13 degrees, Allahabad of 14.5 degrees and Kanpur remained pleasant at 14 degrees Celsius.
