Wife of BSF jawan dies in Kashmir fire

Srinagar, Mar 21 : Wife of a Border Security Force (BSF) jawan and two sheeps have died while four structures were damaged in different fire incidents in the Kashmir valley overnight, official sources said here today.

They said Baranti Jena, wife of BSF constable S K Jena of 4th batalliion, attached with officer mess at Pantha Chowk, sustained serious burn injuries when a kerosene oil heater, she was filling exploded.

She was immediately rushed to 92 Army base hospital where she died.


Police have registered a case and initiated proceedings.

They said fire broke out in a house at Sheikh Mohalla, Kupwara resulting in damage to the house. Two sheeps were also burnt alive in the incident.

A house, cowshed and kitchen were damaged in a fire incident at Raithan in central Kashmir district of Badgam.

The cause of fire was not known in both the incidents.
