IPFCA meets to discuss football

Mumbai, June 5 :The Indian Professional Football Clubs Association (IPFCA) on met to discuss various matters concerning Indian football. The meeting was held at the Ashok Piramal Group Business Centre - Lotus Lounge, Mumbai on Wednesday, 5th June, 2013.


The meeting was chaired by IPFCA President R.A.J. Gomes.

The common voice of the IPFCA meeting was, "come together, work together for the betterment of Indian football."

The IPFCA also welcomed the newly promoted clubs Rangdajed United and Mohammedan Sporting along with the new franchisees JSW and Mumbai Tigers.

The following decisions were taken unanimously:

The clubs would like to continue with the current home-away I-League format and Federation Cup. The clubs would like to meet AIFF and understand how the changes in formats would assist in the development of Indian football. It was also decided that clubs should be taken into confidence before any changesare made in the rules and regulations of the I-League/ Federation Cup.

The prize money should be increased proportionately to the increase in the participation fee.

It was unanimously decided that NO club will release on loan or otherwiseany players for the IMG-Reliance tournament and will also not take any IMG-Reliance contracted players on loan or otherwise.

Members have proposed to organise a tournament during the three month break during which IMG-Reliance will conduct their tournament.

The clubs have not been intimated by the AIFF officially of the decisions taken at the EXCO meeting and have also not received a final calendar for the 2013-14 season.

Churchill Brothers - Jovito Lopes (Media Manager) and Watson Fernandes (Marketing Manager)
JSW (Bangalore) - Mandar Tamhane (Consultant)
Mumbai FC - Atul Bagdamia (Deputy Vice President)
Shillong Lajong FC - Nikhil Sharma (COO - Anglian Management Group - Officially representing the club)
Salgaocar FC - RAJ Gomes (General Secretary)
McDowell Mohun Bagan - Debasish Dutta (Director)
Pune FC - ChiragTanna (Head Operations)

Sporting Clube de Goa was not present but gave their vehement support to all decisions and suggestions which was taken up in the meeting.
