The Algerian football team defeated Benin 3-1 in Group H qualifying matches for the World Cup 2014 to be held in Brazil.

Feghouli (10th minute), Taider (60th), Slimani (90+2) scored for Algeria Tuesday while the sole goal of Benin was scored by Adeoti (26th). After beating Benin, the Desert Foxes share the top spot of Group H with Mali, who beat Rwanda 2-1 Sunday, reports Xinhua.

The Algerian team will travel to Cotonou June 7 to face Benin while Mali will host Rwanda in Round 4. The leader of the group will qualify to the second round of the qualifiers.

Algeria has participated three times in the World Cup -- 1982 in Spain, 1986 in Mexico and 2010 in South Africa -- but never made it to the second round.
