India's annual inflation rate based on Consumer Price Index (CPI) dropped to 9.39pc in April due to fall in prices of vegetables, edible oil and protein-based items, said government data released on Friday.


Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Statistics and Programme Implementation Srikant Kumar Jena announced the release of the monthly provisional Consumer Price Index (CPI) on Base 2010=100 along with annual inflation rates for April 2013, compiled by the Central Statistics Office. Final CPI numbers for the month of March 2013 have also been released.

All India General (all groups) CPI numbers of April 2013 for rural, urban and combined are 128.7, 127.4 and 128.1 respectively.

Annual inflation rate based on all India general CPI (Combined) for April 2013 on point to point basis (April 2013 over April 2012) is 9.39 pc . The corresponding inflation rates (provisional) for rural and urban areas are 9.16pc and 9.73pc respectively.

Inflation rates (final) for rural, urban and combined for March 2013 are 10.41 pc , 10.38 pc and 10.39pc respectively.

Provisional annual inflation rates of April 2013 for rural, urban and combined in respect of 'food and beverages' are 10.53pc , 10.94pc and 10.61pc respectively.

The General Indices for rural, urban and combined are 128.7, 127.4 and 128.1 respectively.

Provisional annual inflation rate based on all India general CPI (Combined) for April 2013 on point to point basis (April 2013 over April 2012) is 9.39pc as compared to 10.39pc (final) for the previous month of March 2013.

The corresponding provisional inflation rates for rural and urban areas for April 2013 are 9.16pc and 9.73pc respectively. Inflation rates (final) for rural and urban areas for March 2013 are 10.41pc and 10.38pc respectively.
